MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS

The 6th Grade Band builds on the skills learned in 5th Grade Band with a greater concentration on developing the skills needed to play in the full band.  Intonation, Blend, Balance, Tone quality are among the areas we will focus on this year.   The 6th Grade Band will have two concerts that they share with the 5th Grade Band.  The dates are given above.

The 7th-8th Grade Band keeps a very busy performance schedule.  In addition to our four concerts, we participate in Band Festival, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Junior High Honors Band.  We will be the pre-parade music at the Hometown Christmas Parade in Eaton Rapids and will perform “God Bless America” for the Lansing Lugnuts Grand Slam School Day game in May.

Our Middle School Jazz Band meets once a week after school and is open to all students in 6th-8th Grade Band.  Our Jazz band performs on many of our concerts and in addition to preparing music for those concerts, we learn the art of improvisation.

GREYHOUND INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL BANDS

The Eaton Rapids Public School Instrumental Music Program begins with 5th grade students excited to begin their band experiences while a student at the Greyhound Intermediate School.  Students coming to the 5th grade band program have already had a “taste” of playing musical instruments while participating in elementary music programs.

5th Grade Band students must meet some eligibility requirements set by the office.  Band meets 5 days a week with all students attending each day.  School-owned instruments are available to families where instrument rental costs are a financial hardship based on availability.

Please see the calendar for scheduled concerts.
